DRC :First Lady Marie-Olive Lembe to Congolese evangelicals: Stop flooding presidential couple with Prophecies!

Maman Marie-Olive Lembe di Sita and Joseph Kabila Kabange
DRC presidential couple

A great number of Congolese evangelicals and prophets claim to have seen in visions good omens God of Israel has in store for the presidential couple. They want to share these visions with the blessed presidential couple in a stampede at the door of the president’s office. But, strangely, First Lady Maman Marie-Olive Lembe di Sika rebukes these prophets and their prophecies!

This past Thursday, May 27, Pastor Théodore Mugalu, head of the “Maison Civile du Président” (the General Secretariat of the President), took the extraordinary step of summoning various leaders of Kinshasa evangelical churches at the Cathédrale du Centenaire in Lingwala Commune to tell them to stop soliciting meetings with the presidential couple to share their “prophetic messages.” Mugalu decried the fact that the chief of staff to the President is swamped under these demands for audiences with the presidential couple by prophets and born-again kooks of all stripes.

Mugalu told the assembled self-proclaimed pastors, high-priests, bishops, archbishops, brothers-in-Christ, sisters-in-Christ, crazies-for-God, apostles, visionaries and prophets that “at the kindly request of the First Lady, Madame Marie-Olive Lembe,” he wanted to remind them that the DRC is a non-religious state.

Mungalu told the baffled audience that the DRC isn’t by any stretch of imagination Ancient Israel—“the chosen land of God, where prophets used to bring directly to the kings their messages.”

The full extent of the bafflement of brothers- and sisters-in-Christ can only be appreciated if one realizes that every single one of them (including virtually all Congolese citizens) believes that the Lord of hosts had personally prophesied about the Messianic future of the Congolese people in Isaiah 18, where God is alerting the prophet about the nation of Congo (a nation “which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia”), a nation He had chosen alongside Israel:

“At that time gifts will be brought
to the Lord of hosts
from a people tall and smooth,
a nation mighty and conquering,
whose land the rivers divide,
to Mount Zion, the place of the name of the Lord of hosts.”

Maybe Pastor Théodore Mugalu lost his poise under the intense scrutiny of all these stunned eyes trained at him. He might have realized then and there that he'd gone too far with his dismissive and derogatory comparison between Israel and Congo!... For, the next minute, he was opening the very same door he was intent on shutting on the faces of the prophets. The only place the assembled bats-in-the-belfry evangelicals could share their prophecies dealing with the presidential couple, Mugalu told them, will henceforth be the General Secretariat of the President where he alone [Mugalu] would entertain these prophecies. In fact, Mugalu told the offended prophets to go see him at his office on June 3!... Nice move, without which he would've been the target of many a fatwa...
