According to BBC Gahuzamiryango news captured yesterday, Monday, 28.05.2012, Colonel Gakufi based in Masisi and who was supposed to strengthen FARDC positions on the front line in Rutshuru has defected. He joined the 'rebels' of M23, with at least 200 heavily armed soldiers. Contacted by an international radio, the latter said he separated from FARDC as they do not respect basic civilians human rights . He was referring to the recent mutiny by the FARDC in Kitchanga that lead to hundreds of deaths and rape of defenseless women.
