Welcome to the Rwanda-Drc-Burundi-Ouganda Blog. Well, this blog will gather daily, all interesting news related to some countries of the greatlakes region. Our attention will focus primarily on the DRC and Rwanda. I believe these two countries have come a long way and proceeding in the right direction (provided that they build, from now on stronger institutions!). In addition, some interesting news from Africa and other parts of the world will be posted from time to time.

DRC/M23: Military stalemate, diplomatic positioning
Despite official indications by the
Congolese government, the military situation on the ground against the M23
rebellion has not changed much. Several days ago, the government launched
another push up the mountains against the rebellion. According to the government
spokesman, they took several hills and victory appeared to be within reach. On
Monday, the armed forces commander Gen Didier Etumba gave a presentation to a
ministerial meeting in which he said that they had killed 200, wounded 250 and
prompted 374 others to surrender.
